Oh.My.Gosh. How do I even begin to describe such a masterpiece? I just .. I cannot fathom any words that properly express my thoughts on this book. Things I can gather at the moment as I am in a Mourning Period for this series.
KAYLEE CAVANAUGH IS THE MOST BAD-ASS FEMININE PROTAGONIST I HAVE EVER READ ABOUT!!!!!! I always thought she was weak and I sometimes viewed her as useless ... but man this book. This. Book. It's slapped me in the face and brought me to reality. I have realised that Kaylee is the most bad-ass, loyal, determined kick-butt character ever. She is incredibly brave and does not fail to love.
Kaylee and Tod's relationship. COULD I BE IN ANY MORE TEARS?! I DON'T THINK SO! It's just .. their love for each other ... The fact that they are soul-mates. That they each hold a part of the others soul. It's just so touching!
Rachel Vincent's description of Hell. Oh. My. Gosh. I may have been afraid of hell before but now I am freaking terrified!!!! O_O When it was describing Kaylee's experience in hell and it was showing her the memories of her friends I just lost it. I LITERALLY LOST IT!!!!! I mean it showed Nash dead. Sabine behind bars and Emma mentally imprisoned. HOW MUCH MORE CAN I TAKE?!
And can I just say that Kaylee is one smart character. Always planned in advance. Which is why this book was flippin fantastic because it ended REALLY REALLY WELL!!!! What more could I have wanted out of a book?
I got anger, crying, mourning, love and happiness all out of one book!

As I was reading the book, I was mentally shifting through pieces of evidence in my head and I decided to settle on Ethan as the culprit. I WAS SO FREAKIN RIGHT!!!!!!
Although, I have to say Sara Shepard is really smart. She knew that many people would suspect Ethan because he is the last person you would expect. So what does she do? She steers us away from who we believe it to be to Garret. Even though I had Ethan in mind, the book was telling me otherwise.
Book: It's not Ethan, it can't be. Sutton remembered more of that night. Garret was there. It says he let go. He killed her. He has motives. It's Garret. *whispers* It's Garret.
At one point I believed it to be Garret which extremely pissed me off. Because I thought to myself, if it really is Garret then where's the twist. No-one wants Garret to be the bad guy. That's no fun at all.
But it wasn't. Then when it was revealed to be Ethan I was shocked. Not because it was Ethan. I had a hunch that was coming but because of how the pieces of evidence clicked together. When Emma found the mental records of Ethan. I was gobsmacked and absolutely terrified. Ethan.Was.A.Freak. He Freaking murdered a child at the age of 10. He spied on Emma through his telescope which is so so creepy. And not just that but the fact that from the beginning it was obvious it was him but we didn't expect it.
I mean, how was it that out of all people who knew Sutton so so well it was Ethan who found out about Sutton not being Sutton.
And when Emma was playing along as if she didn't know it was Ethan I was so so terrified for her. When you know you're next to a murderer you just freak out. Especially when you're reading about it.
So yeah .... AMAZING!!!!! I loved the Pretty Little Liars books. Up to the Book 8 that is. I stopped after that. And Lying Game is AH-MAZING!!!! Another great series by Sara Shepard. I'm glad she didn't prolong the series.
I wish they didn't cancel the show!!!!
This EXTREMELY short story was HILARIOUS! It only gets 3 stars because how am I supposed to give a 1 page story 5 stars.
This is a story about finding yourself and so much moreWhat I have learned from this book
1. There are times to speak up and times to shut up and you need to know that.
2. You need to respect others decisions. If someone doesn't want you to get involved then you need to respect their decision. Don't go tattle-taling especially when it's none of your business.
3. You need to know when something is worth it or not.
4. Success and finding oneself comes from failures in life.
DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!!
Let me tell you! I have never laughed as much as I did whilst reading this short story/ novella. This is my favourite in the chronicles so far. Let me give you an example:
So James Herondale was drunk and Magnus was explaining the whole situation to Will (Yes, I know Will is in this book as a father figure) Anyways one part he explained just made me burst into laughter.
“Then I lost him for a brief period of time, and by the time I caught up with him, he had wandered into Hyde Park, waded into the Serpetine, spread his arms wide, and was shouting, 'Ducks, embrace me as your king!”
This novella has given us a bit of insight into the TLH trilogy/series that Cassandra Clare is soon to write. We get to see Tessa and Will in this story as a father and mother figure. I absolutely adored that. And we got to see Brother Zachariah (a.k.a Jem) as well.
The whole story itself is beautiful and James ... man James is such a character. He's so similar to his mother and father yet so different at the same time. He's even inherited some magic from Tessa.
I also realised that if James is in TLH then we will get some Will and Tessa in the book hopefully. *fingers crossed*
Overall ... Beautiful!
I'm taking one star off because of the ending. I wanted it to be resolved and for the sequel to be a different story. Unfortunately ... not. Rose Zarelli
How to describe her? She's me basically. She doesn't believe she fits in. She says things without thinking and lets her past clog up her life. Okay, so she isn't exactly me. But we share similar traits so I guess that is why I can relate to her.
Rose is a girl who I have realised seems to wallow in her misery. She doesn't really try to fix it. She's one of those annoying people who purposely wants to feel depressed. Now I understand that she's been affected by her fathers death at such a young age. I mean there are few of these books that I have read with a protagonist of the age fourteen. I really liked a lot of her morals. She had strong morals, values and mindsets. However, speaking your mind seemed to be one of them.
I hated the fact that she wasn't social or she didn't try to socialise and converse with people. I also didn't like the fact that she wasn't supportive. Friends are there for each other, you trust them, you support them, you advise them and they return the same deeds. That's how friendship works. You can't ride a canoe with only one person doing the work.
This book is a story of a fourteen year old girl, Rose Zarelli who has just started High School. This is a story of not just surviving but coming to terms with your many flaws and trying to become a better person. It's about letting go of the past and not letting it clog up your life and implementing values and morals into everyday life. It's about not letting yourself rot in the pit that is misery.
This novella annoyed me SO much!!!! Who does she think she is? She's so full of herself. And this quote annoyed me the most.
"People called Kaylee special, but what they really meant was “special.” In that straitjackets and
padded walls kind of way. She wasn’t special like Luca thought I was special. She could never
handle what I’d just seen and done. She wasn’t stable enough."
If she even knew a single thing about Kaylee she would keep her mouth shut!
I'm sorry but Kaylee's cousin is the most shallow book character I could have ever meet.
The word Hopeless has so many meanings when it comes to this book.Hopeless is Holder's way of reminding himself that he let down the two people he loved most in his life.
Hopeless symbolises the bond between the girl Hope and the Girl Les (Lesslie)
Hopeless captures the emotions and the feelings of the characters in this book. Especially Dean Holder. He is completely and utterly hopeless. He is hopeless and he feels Hopeless.
The phrase Losing Hope doesn't just symbolise the loss of will in Holder but it conveys many other messages. It's not just Holder Losing Hope but it is about other characters Losing Hope. Les lost hope. And that led to something tragic. That was the reason why Holder suddenly became Hopeless.
As well as this, he lost his Childhood friend Hope and that also connects to Losing Hope.
These words/phrases have so many different meanings that are so cleverly conveyed in this book. Colleen Hoover was able to make this book magical even though it was just from another perspective. It was still unique and it uncovered so much information that we were not given in the first book.
We were able to see both sides of the arguments and the experiences and realise just how perfect the two characters Sky and Holder are for each other. They are/were both Hopeless but together they 'love' and 'like'.
They live.
This book will make you live.
And you will live this book!
